  1. འཆད་​པ།

    p. བཤད། imp. ཤོད།

    Biblical: to preach or explain: ཆོས་​སྟོན་​ཞིང་​ཕྲིན་​བཟང་​འཆད་​པའི་​ཚེ། when he was teaching and preaching the gospel (Lk. 20:1), ངས་​ཕྱི་​པར་​འཆད་​པའི་​ཕྲིན་​བཟང་​། the gospel I preach to the Gentiles (Gal. 2:2), འཇིག་​རྟེན་​ནང་​གང་​དུའང་​ཕྲིན་​བཟང་​འདི་​འཆད། wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world (Mk. 14:9), ཕྲིན་​བཟང་​འཆད་​དུ་​མངགས་​སོ། sent me to preach the gospel (1 Cor. 1:17), ངས་​སྔོན་​བཤད་​པའི་​ཕྲིན་​བཟང་​། the gospel I preached (1 Cor. 15:1), ངས་​བཤད་​པ་​ཡིད་​ལ་​བཟུང་​ན། if you believe what I preached to you (1 Cor. 15:2).

    Buddhist: Bsm. is normally transmitted from teacher to student through the study of scriptural texts. There are said to be five methods of accomplishing this, the so-called བཤད་​ཐབས་​ཡན་​ལག་​ལྔ། or "five methods of teaching": discussing its purpose, summarizing it, giving its literal meaning; studying its links with other texts; and debate and discussion of the meaning (CNG 66/TRI 276). 1) to explain: བཤད་​ཚུལ་​མང་​པོ་​ཡོད། there are many ways to explain it (TRC 96), ང་​ཚོ་​ནང་​པའི་​ཆོས་​ཀྱི་​བཤད་​པ་​ལྟར་​ན། as our Bst. religion explains (DPD); 2) to teach: ངས་​བཤད་​པའི་​ཆོས་​ཉམས་​སུ་​ལེན་​པ་​ན། when you practice the doctrine I have taught (TRC 184); 3) to say: ལོ་​བདུན་​ཡིན་​པ་​བཤད་​དགོས། you must say that you are seven years old (DPD).

    Biblical: to proclaim, declare, preach: དཀོན་​མཆོག་​གིས་​ང་​ཚོ་​མ་​ཀེ་​དོན་​དུ་​ཕྲིན་​བཟང་​སྒྲོག་​ཏུ་​བོས་​པ། God called us to preach the gospel in Macedonia (Acts 16:10), ཕྲིན་​བཟང་​སྒྲོག་​པ། one who preaches the gospel (1 Cor. 9:14).
